I attended a function at The Michelangelo Hotel recently and could not take my eyes off the colour-changing candles in the centre of each table. When guests started picking them up and looking underneath for a label, I knew I wasn’t the only one!

Simplea Candles, based in Randpark Ridge, stocks these unique candles that slowly change from colour to colour as if by magic. When extinguished, the colour-changing stops and the candle reverts to its original white colour until it is lit again.

I have a small round candle in my bathroom (and feel completely zen-like after a candlelit bubble bath spent watching the colours slowly change), but think these would make beautiful gifts, not to mention table centrepieces at special occasions and weddings!

The candles are available in various sizes and shapes: small round candles, pillar candles, square candles and jar candles and retail from R55 upwards. Also visit their website (link below) for details of this month’s special offers.

ilse Great idea for a wedding centerpiece - Only problem might be the guests will be staring at the candles instead of the bride LOL
