I first discovered Belle’s when someone sent me their website and I was blown away by their incredible selection and droolworthy creations. I was thrilled to then learn that they also have a delightful little shop in Blu Bird!
From pasteis de nata, brioche and macarons; to cheese puffs, tarts tatin and toffee apples – I struggle to think what Belle’s Patisserie doesn’t make! More importantly, of course, they do it all so very beautifully. Their attention to detail and creativity is simply gobsmacking! Cursing my limited appetite, I had to settle for a plate of macarons - increasingly popular French pastries made with almond meal and sandwiched with creams and ganaches, coming in any number of flavours and perfectly pastel colours. They were amazing! Their flavours change all the time, but the ones I tried and loved were lemon, apple, lavender and chilli/chocolate. A generous cappuccino and a good friend are the perfect accompaniments!
What I really loved about the place were the gilt touches, big fluffy blankets and ultra-friendly waitresses. I can’t wait to go back; either with a book and a free morning, or a small group of my favourite people for their high tea – R110 for a platter of the day’s best and your choice of coffee or tea!
