I am completely besotted with 44 Stanley in Milpark! This melting-pot of artistry and diverse characters has a charming appeal that has me coming back for more. And and each time, I find something new to fall in love with.
My most recent visit revealed Salvation Café, a quaint restaurant situated right in the centre of the precinct. Salvation Café is incredibly inviting from the outside, with its raised deck peeping from beneath the trees and multitude of surprisingly relaxed Joburgers taking their time over some very indulgent meals.
As soon I walked in, I knew there was no way I could leave – how does one say no to an enticing selection of tarts and cakes that were, in my opinion, strategically placed right near the entrance for that precise purpose? And let’s not even mention the Hot Chocolate (made with REAL chocolate that dissolved in front of your eyes) that was an absolute must on such a cold day!
In a nutshell, Salvation Café is just as eclectic as 44 Stanley! The menu, which is inspired by the chef/owner’s travels around the world, explores exotic flavours while remaining down-to-earth and unpretentious! The Tandoori Chicken Wrap with Paw-Paw and Pineapple Chutney was heavenly and, coupled with their delicious Homemade Lemonade, made for a heart-warming end to an afternoon of shopping and exploring. Salvation Café is definitely a food pharmacy for those in need of fresh, comforting food and treats made with lots and lots of love and passion! Just go!
